Alice in Chains es una banda Rock estadounidense, fundada en 1987 en Seattle, Washington.
Alice in Chains se formó oficialmente cuando el cantante Layne Staley y el guitarrista Jerry Cantrell se conocieron en una fiesta y decidieron formar una banda, ya que compartían gustos musicales y habían estado tocando en bandas de glam metal(Jerry Cantrell en Diamond Dave), estilo predominante en la época. Poco después se uniría al grupo el bajista Mike Starr (bajista del grupo de Glam Gyspy Rose) y el batería Sean Kinney
