Biografía:
The Swell Season originalmente se refiere al álbum de 2006 publicaron el músico irlandés Glen Hansard y la cantante y pianista checa Markéta Irglová. El título del álbum, así como de la canción "The Swell Season" está inspirado en la novela de Josef Škvorecký de 1975 que lleva el mismo título.
El primer álbum surgió después de Glen y Marketa fueron abordados por el director de cine checo Jan Hrebejk mientras estaban de gira en la República Checa, y se les pidió grabar canciones para su próxima película Beauty in Trouble.
