Ramones fue una influyente banda de Punk rock formada en Forest Hills, en el barrio de Queens, Nueva York, Estados Unidos en 1974. Fueron los pioneros del naciente punk rock, un sonido simple, minimalista y repetitivo que evitaba la musicalidad de los solos de guitarra de las bandas de los 70. Consistía básicamente en un sonido crudo, rápido y directo con influencias directas en los grupos rockabilly de los 50, pero fundamentalmente de bandas como New York Dolls, MC5 y The Stooges.
