Portugal.The Man surge en el 2002 en la ciudad estadounidense de Wasilla, Alaska y con sede en Portland, Oregon. La banda está compuesta por antiguos miembros de la banda Anatomy of a Ghost. Musicalmente, su estilo tiene sus raíces de los sonidos indie, pero sus canciones también contienen elementos de soul, blues, progresivo, y la música popular. The song plays the verse with a varied E7 chord as the iii in the progression which I've notated below, however you can play an Em and it will sound fine. The Am in the verse is played as a barre chord, but in the chorus it's open.
