The Pogues is a band of mixed Irish and English background, playing traditional Irish music with influences from punk rock and folk, formed in 1982 and fronted by Shane MacGowan. The band reached international prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s. MacGowan left the band in 1991 due to drinking problems but the band continued first with Joe Strummer and then with Spider Stacy on vocals before breaking up in 1996.[1] The band reformed in 2001, and has been playing regularly ever since

The Broad Majestic Shannon The Pogues
DGDBmDGAD DG The last time I saw you was down at the Greeks DGBm There was whiskey on Sunday and tears on our cheeks ADG You sang me a song as pure as the breeze DGA on a road leading up Glenaveigh DG I sat for a while at the cross at Finnoe DGBm Where young lovers would meet when the flowers were in bloom ADG Heard the men coming home from the fair at Shinrone DGAD Their hearts in Tipperary wherever they go DGA Take my hand, and dry your tears babe DGA Take my hand, forget your fears babe DGA There's no pain, there's no more sorrow DGA They're all gone, gone in the years babe
I sat for a while by the gap in the wall Found a rusty tin can and an old hurley ball Heard the cards being dealt, and the rosary called And a fiddle playing Sean Dun na nGall And the next time I see you we'll be down at the Greeks There'll be whiskey on Sunday and tears on our cheeks For it's stupid to laugh and it's useless to bawl About a rusty tin can and an old hurley ball
DGA So I walked as the day was dawning DGA Where small birds sang and leaves were falling DGA Where we once watched the row boats landing DGAD By the broad majestic Shannon
