Song: Lost the Plot, from the CD Take me to your Leader Artists: Newsboys, lyrics by Steve Taylor and Peter Furler.
This is probably my favourite song on the entire TMTYL album; It's got a lot of emotion and the lyrics are really powerful. It's a pretty easy song to play and it was the first song I ever really totally figured out. Here it is.
Chords used: Em - 022000 D - x5777x C - x3555x G - 320001 Amaj7 - xx7999 Gmaj7 - xx5777
These chords, especially the C and D, sound more like the CD when voiced like this. As for the Amaj7 and Gmaj7, it's close, but I'm pretty sure these aren't the exact chords or voicing used.
EmDC When you come back again EmDC Would you bring me something from the fridge? EmDC Heard a rumour that the end is near EmDC but I just got comfortable here.
D Sigh. Amaj7D Let's be blunt. Amaj7D I'm a little distracted. Amaj7D What do you want?
EmG Headaches and bad faith EmG are all that I've got. EmG First I misplaced the ending CEm then I lost the plot.
EmDC Out among the free-range sheep EmDC While the big birds sharped their claws. EmDC For a time we stuck with the shepherd EmDC but you wouldn't play Santa Claus.
D Sigh. Amaj7D Let's be blunt. Amaj7D We're a little distracted. Amaj7D What do you want?
EmG Once we could follow, EmG now we cannot. EmG You would not fit our image, CEm so we lost the plot.
EmG Once we could hear you, EmG now our senses are shot. EmG We've forgotten our first love CEm We have lost the plot. CEm Lost the plot.
Interlude(?) (Basically just repeatedly: Amaj7DGmaj7C)
(This next part may not be quite right, I just did it quickly)
GEm When I saw you for the first time G You were hanging with a thief Em And I knew my hands were dirty,
and I dropped my gaze. GEm Then you said I was forgiven
G and you welcomed me with laughter Em I was happy ever after
I was counting the days DC when you'd come back again.
We'll be waiting for you EmDC When you comin' again?
We'll be ready for you EmDC Maybe we'll wake up when...
Maybe we'll wake up when EmDC you come back again.
D Lies. Amaj7D Let's be blunt. Amaj7D We're a little unfaithful. Amaj7D What do you want?
EmG Are you still listening? EmG 'Cause we're obviously not. EmG We've forgotten our first love. CEm We have lost the plot.
EmG And why are you still calling? EmG You forgave, we forgot. EmG We're such experts at stalling CEm that we've lost the plot CEmCEmCEm lost the plot... lost the plot... lost the plot.
EmDC When you come back again EmDC Would you bring me something from the fridge? EmDC Heard a rumour that the end is near EmDC but I just got comfortable here.
