So I was just casually playing this song and I suddenly realized that Lorde used the same EXACT chord progression as I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miz and I was a bit #shook about it. Anyway... Another thing I discovered is that none of the tabs quite do justice to the song... so yeah. Lemme explain it a bit for ya tho: while the chords are playing, the bass notes do some kind of scale downward throughout the verse, until the A kicks in and she basically plays A, B, C# and E upward. So, while the rest of the song plays the chords, the bass notes do: D, C#, B, A, G, F# and E downward -- then A, B, C# and E upward, and then you go back to the D. It's the same throughout the whole song. It looks quite difficult but it isn't, I swear. You just need to get into the mindset. At least, on piano and uke (my instruments) it doesn't, maybe it will on guitar. For any of you who might be wondering: yes, Bm7 and D6 are the same notes (arranged differently, but the same notes). No it's not the same thing (kinda why the bass notes are different).
