Fundados en 1982, The Toasters fue la primera banda ska de Estados Unidos, formada por el inglés Rob "Bucket" Hingley quien llevaba pocos meses viviendo en NYC. Influenciados por la segunda ola del ska, en la que se encuentran bandas como The Specials, The Selecter, Madness, The Beat, entre otras, forman parte de la llamada tercera ola del Ska, ofreciendo un eclecticismo musical marcado por un cúmulo de estilos como el reggae, jazz, soul, dancehall, rap y rock que conforman su particular sonido.

DD It was 1964 and the rhythm just wouldn't stop, DDA People banging on the door to hear "My boy Lollipop" DG Then the 70's came and with it the 2 Tone scene... DAD People shakin' their heads at the rudies on the record machine
DD Now the 90's are here with the new bands bringin' it to you DA Skins and rudies-and even some punk rock, too! DG But the boys are still playing and the music is coming out live! DAD Down at your jukebox, dancing on a Saturday night!
