Tres chicos de Spartanbough acostumbrados al sonido sureño del country, el blues, honky tonk y cajun tocaban con gran virtuosismo y profesionalidad. Eran tres cowboys de aquella ciudad de Carolina del Sur que hacía frontera con Carolina del Norte y Georgia.
Influidos por los contemporáneos y algo anteriores Allman Brothers Band dieron un sonido campestre al hasta ese momento urbano sonido del Southern Rock.
