*from 'Handsworth Revolution' (1978)*
Intro:
BbGm (x2) CmGm (x16)
Verse 1:
CmGm I say the people of Handsworth, CmGm Know that; CmGmCmGm One hand wash the other, so they say. So... Cm Let's join hands my bredren, GmCmGm Make the way, for our children, (our children, our children), CmGm And their children, (their children, their children). CmGmCmGm En-suring that they get life's fair share of... CmGmCmGm E-quality...
CmGm Doesn't justice, stand for all? CmGm Doesn't justice, stand for all? CmGm Doesn't justice, stand for all man-kind?
CmGmCmGm We find so-ciety, putting us down, CmGm Crowning us, crowning us, crowning us, crown-ing us; CmGm A place of evil, oh, oh.
CmGm Handsworth means us the black people, CmGm Handsworth means us the black people. CmCm We're talking now; speaking Jah Jah language!
Chorus 1:
G7F7Ab7G7 It's a long, long way, we're coming from. G7F7Ab7G7 To send this message a-cross, a-cross.
G7F7Ab7G7 Its been hidden, for-bidden, con-cealed, unre-vealed, G7F7Ab7G7 Its got to come out in the open, that...
Verse 2:
CmGmCmGm Babylon is falling, Babylon is falling. CmGm It was foolish to build it on the sand, Cm Handsworth shall stand firm, GmCm Like Jah rock; fighting back. Gm We once beggars, are now choosers, CmGm No intention to be losers, CmGm Striving forward, with am-bition, CmGm And if it takes ammu-nition, CmGm We rebel in Handsworth Revolution.
CmGm Dread we are for a cause, de-prived of many things, CmGm Ex-perienced phoney laws, hatred Babylon brings. CmGmCmGm We know what you got to offer; we know what's going on. Cm Don't want no favours, 'cos there is still hunger, Gm Inno-cent convicted, poor wage, hard labour, Cm Only Babylon prospers and humble suffer. GmCm They are brothers...in South of Africa, GmCmGm One Black represent all, all over the world. Cm Can't bear it no longer, blessed with the power, Gm Of Jah Creator, we will get stronger, CmGm And we will conquer, and forward ever and backward never.
