Sharon Jones, cantante de soul y funk nacida en Augusta (Georgia) en el año 1958. Comenzó su carrera a finales de los 90s, pero su grave y potente voz correspondía según muchos a tres décadas antes. Su sonido evoca a dos de las protegidas funk de James Brown; Marva Whitney y Lynn Collins. Nació en Georgia en 1958, y pasó su infancia entre Nueva York y el sur del país. Su prmiera demostración de talento la hizo en el coro de la iglesia, y con tan sólo 14 años tocaba el órgano cada domingo en "Queens' Universal Church of God".
