Chords without capo are
Verse: F# - C#/F#
Chorus: B/F# - C#/F# - F#
- they will be shown below in respect to the capo.
Certainly look up the song for a feel for the rhythm and flow of the chords, but see below for some shapes
which may help make those transitions more seamless. Generally use a traditional picking pattern,
especially in the Chorus where your thumb alternates between the two lowest notes.
Lastly - and please comment if you have another opinion, but I believe the song is in 12/8 time signature,
with the emphasis on the 1, 4, 7, and 10 so that each bar often feels more like a 4/4. Listen for
Glen Kotche's taps on the high-hat as the song begins for a basis.
Enjoy this gem!

"Every Songbird Says" from their album Love Letter for Fire (2016)
(performed by Sam Beam [of Iron & Wine] & Jesca Hoop)
[E - B/E] x3
E B/E E B/E
I'm a tiny heart that's falling fast
E B/E E B/E
Like a humming bird, like an hourglass
E B/E E B/E
I'm a hollow bone, a determined wing
E B/E E B/E
For the distant hope, of a promise ring
E B/E E B/E
This bed is old, but the dream is new
E B/E E B/E
You can borrow mine, if you break a few
E B/E E B/E
I'm a mountain side, I can wash away
E B/E E B/E
I'm a pool of tears, on a wedding day
[Chorus]
A/E B/F# E A/E
Oooh we're both baby bottles full of love
B/F# E A/E
Oooh empty fingers of a glove
B/F# E A/E
Oooh we know when it's enough
Oooh enough, oooh enough,
B/F# E B/E
Oooh it's enough, oooh to be walking with youuuuuuuuu
[E - B/E] x3
E B/E x2
I get loooooooost,
E B/E E B/E
I get lost a lot and you meet me there
E B/E E B/E
I can close my eyes and find you anywhere
E B/E E B/E
I can hold you close while you wander free
E B/E E B/E
But the long walk home says you're good for me
A/E B/F#
You're good for me
[E - B/E] x2
E B/E
(And get loooooost)
E B/E E B/E
I can take a lot, I'll give you more
E B/E E B/E
We're a tiny heart, but the blood is warm
E B/E E B/E
I'm a thunder cloud, I'm cutting through
E B/E E B/E
Every songbird says I'm in love with you
A/E B/F# E B/E
I'm in love with you, I'm in love with you,
E B/E
I'm in love with you
[Chorus]
A/E B/F# E A/E
Oooh we're both deaf and banging on a drum
B/F# E A/E
Snow angels sleeping in the sun.
B/F# E A/E
Oooh we know when it's enough
Oooh enough, oooh enough, oooh enough,
A/E B/F# E A/E
Oooh sun sinking down and its work is never done
B/F# E A/E
Oooh your heart is never won
B/F# E A/E
Oooh we know when it's enough
Oooh enough, oooh enough, oooh enough, oooh enough, oooh enough, oooh enough, oooh enough,
B/F# E [repeat E - B/E] x4
Oooh it's enough, Oooh to be walking with youuuuuuuuuuuu
E B/F# x14
And get lost
[End final bar with a single strum of E for 12 taps]
Chords - relative to [Capo 2]:
E B/E* A/E B/F#
e|--0----x-----0----x---|
B|--0----x-----2----4---|
G|--1----4-----2----4---|
D|--2----4-----2----4---|
A|--2----2-----0----2---|
E|--0----0-----0----2---|
*Play by keeping fingers held in E-shape, then use pinky to bar the 4th fret while you continue strumming.
Also: As for the B/E chord above, I've found it also works well to simply hold the E chord shape and slide up
to grab the B chord on the 8th fret, leaving the root note on the 7th fret open for the E.
