A buddy just introduced me to this song and I really liked it. I had not previosuly heard of Reina del Cid
but I really like what I have now seen on Youtube. Her video shows the song capoed at the 4th fret. Feel
free to move that around to fit your voice. (I think guitar sounds great at 4 but i cant quite signit there
so I play it capoed at the 2nd fret.) Everything below is relative to the capo.
The verses on the video are all fingerpicked.
You can also cheat this by alternating open G and C and just play the E, A and D strings and it sounds
pretty good.
I have listed the chords below but this is the fingerpicked part
that is played during all of the verses.

from that awful place

I tried to grab your hand

[VERSE]
G C
Hot summer rain
G C
walking on the beach
G C
mouth full of pain
G C
you finally talked to me
G C
You started drifting out
G C
on those lonely waves
G C
I tried to rope you in
G C
but you were miles away,
[BRIDGE]
Em
miles away
C G D
Mmm, and it always ends that way

Oh, what could I say?

I can't help you anyway
[VERSE]

So you were pushed along
G C
to a place of moss and fern
G C
but it's the road to health
G C
that has the sharpest turns

The pictures in your mind
G C
killed all your memories

it made a ghost of you

it made a mess of me
[BRIDGE]

Oh, but I was strong as I could be

And oh, what could I say?

Don't it always end that way?
[VERSE]
G C
If I could wake you up
G C
pull you from the deep
G C
I would brush you off
G C
and take you back with me
G C
We'd never turn around
G C
to see that awful place
G C
'cause I would have your hand
G C
and I would keep you safe
[BRIDGE]
Em
Keep you safe
C G D
Mmm, but it never ends that way
