Mister Heavenly consta de tres indie veteranos Nick Thorburn (Islands / The Unicorns), Ryan Kattner (Man Man) y Joe Plummer (Modest Mouse). Su sociedad de admiración mutua estaba en vigor antes de Mister Heavenly tomó forma. Modest Mouse and Man Man coincidieron en gira juntos en varias ocasiones, a partir de 2007.
