D
There it is,
A
I planted it for you and me
D G D
It is also hers and his
A D
That small twig will become a tree
[Chorus]
G D
You are never too old to plant a tree
A
It will be there to fill a need
D G D
For young and old whatever their need
A D
So----time out, while I plant this tree
G D
It could be white oak, ash or maybe pine
A
Made into ship keels, or sail masts
D G D
Or the wheel on a steamship line
A D
Used for many things by pioneers past
G D
Now even timber waste
A
Becomes the much needed bio- mass
D G D
Converted to needed fuel
A D
Including auto and natural gas
G D
A sight to behold, to those here, early on
A
Timberland spread from sea to sea
D G D
And with proper care it will never be gone
A D
You are never too old to plant a tree
