Influenciados por las melodías de los Beatles, las armonías vocales de los Beach Boys y la fortaleza instrumental de los Who, el grupo The Move resultó ser una de las formaciones más destacadas del Reino Unido en los últimos años de la década de los sesenta, derivando su importancia del talento atesorado por el genial compositor y multiinstrumentista Roy Wood, quien en sus composiciones tanto ahondaba en el pop o la psicodelia, como en el rock progresivo, el rock’n’roll o la música clásica.
