Banda escocesa formada a finales de los 80, editaron su primer disco, "A catholic education", en 1990 para el sello Paperhouse. Aunque en un principio se dejaron llevar más por el "shoegazing" más ensimismado, pronto sacaron a relucir su brillante vena pop y en 1991 publicaron el excelente "Bandwagonesque" ya en el sello Creation. A este bombazo popero de primera magnitud le siguieron obras de manual como "13" (1993), "Grand Prix" (1995) y "Songs from Northern Britain" (1997).
