Sonata Arctica es una banda de Power Metal proveniente de la ciudad de Kemi, Finlandia.
La banda fue fundada bajo el nombre de Tricky Beans y en sus inicios tocaban canciones fuertemente influidas por el género rock and roll, las cuales no tenían mucho que ver con su actual estilo, el Power Metal. Al principio de su carrera, grabaron 3 demos que nunca fueron enviados a ningún sello discográfico - Friend 'till The End, Agre Pamppers y PeaceMaker..
