Smokie (llamada originalmente Smokey) es una banda musical de música rock británica que se hizo popular en Europa en los años 1970. Inicialmente se denominaron "The Yen" y posteriormente "Essence". El grupo se formó en 1965, y estaba compuesto por Chris Norman, Terry Uttley, Alan Silson y Ron Kelly. En 1973 Ron Kelly abandona la banda, es entonces cuando llega el baterista Pete Spencer.
No sería hasta 1975 que graban su primer álbum, Pass it Around, alcanzando la popularidad.
