Apocalyptica es una banda de Cello Metal formada en Helsinki, Finlandia en 1992 por cuatro violonchelistas graduados de la academia de música clásica Sibelius. Es conocida por tocar canciones Metal con violonchelos.

Apocalyptica se formó en 1992 en la academia de música clásica Sibelius de Helsinki en Finlandia cuando varios amigos hacían covers de sus bandas favoritas sólo por diversión, pero con la diferencia de que los tocaban con sus cellos.
