Desde comienzos de los 80´s, el indio radicado en Inglaterra, Jyoti Mishra comenzó a escribir su historia musical. En 1989 creó a "White Town",nombre un tanto irónico, ya que Mishra se ha considerado un apartado de la humanidad, y White (Blanco) hace la contraposición a su color racial. En Diciembre de 1996 saltó a la fama con su sencillo que dio la vuelta al mundo "Your Woman", tema incluido en el disco "Woman in Technology", el que además llegó al número uno en las radioemisoras inglesas.
