UB40 es un grupo inglés de música pop reggae y dub formado en Birmingham, Inglaterra en 1978.
Sus ocho componentes son amigos desde la infancia, de distintas etnias y procedentes de la clase obrera. Compraron sus primeros instrumentos con el dinero que Ali Campbell recibió como compensación de una pelea en un bar, aunque algunos de ellos todavía no sabían tocarlos. Extrajeron su nombre del formulario de petición de beneficios por desempleo, Unenployment Benefit form 40 debido a que los 8 miembros del grupo se encontraban en paro.
