MIDNIGHT SUMMER DREAM THE STRANGLERS
INTRO: Dsus2C#sus2F#m Dsus2C#sus2F#m
VERSE: Dsus2 Woke up on a good day C#sus2F#m And the world was wonderful Dsus2C#sus2F#m A midnight summer dream had me in its spell Dsus2 I dreamt about an old man C#sus2F#m Sat and watched the rain all night Dsus2C#sus2F#m He couldn't sleep a wink as all the drops fell
PRE-CHORUS: Dsus2 He told me of the beauty F#m Hidden in our foreheads Dsus2 He told me of the ugliness BmC#m We show instead Dsus2C#sus2 And when we put a foot wrong, do we learn F#m From all the pain? Dsus2C#sus2F#m A midnight summer dream as he watched the rain
CHORUS: EF#mDsus2 Then at midnight he poured another drink C#sus2 And bent my ear EF#mDsus2 After midnight we sat up half the night C#sus2 Or maybe more BGF#m And he began to tell me what it was all for
VERSE: Dsus2C#sus2 I woke up in an armchair F#m He had gone, I don't know where Dsus2C#sus2F#m Left me there to sit and look at the rain Dsus2C#sus2 Don't remember much at all F#m But his words were echoing Dsus2C#sus2F#m A midnight summer dream and then wake again
PRE-CHORUS Dsus2 Maybe I'll never find him F#m Maybe he's gone forever Dsus2 Maybe I'll have to sit here BmC#m Watching the weather Dsus2C#sus2 One thing's pretty certain, helped me F#m Make it in the night Dsus2C#sus2F#m Showed me somewhere else between wrong and right
CHORUS: EF#mDsus2 So at midnight if you can't sleep C#sus2 Then I can bend your ear EF#mDsus2 After midnight we'll sit up half the night C#sus2 Or maybe more BGF#m And I'll begin to tell you what it is all for
