The Samples é uma banda formada em Boulder, Colorado, no início de 1987. O nome da banda veio inspirada do no local onde se coloca mercadorias para serem apreciadas, King Soopers mercadorias, como referência as amostras onde ficavam os alimentos. A música tem sido descrito como "reggae influenciado rock / pop" e um cruzamento entre The Police eo Grateful Dead. Os membros fundadores foram Sean Kelly (Guitarra / Vocais), Charles Hambleton (Guitarra)
