Julian Cope es un músico galés, autor, anticuario, musicólogo y poeta. Nace en 1957 en Deri, Gales. En el año 1977 conoce a Pete Wylie y Ian McCulloch, los tres forman el grupo The Crucial Three. Tras la ruptura del grupo Julian formaría el grupo post-punk The Teardrop Explodes, con los que alcanzaría relevancia. Editaría dos albumes antes de iniciar su carrera en solitario.
Es conocido también por sus libros, tales como Krautrocksampler (sobre el género musical Krautrock desarrollado en Alemania)
