Ok, so I saw a couple goes at this, and while they were very close, I couldn't help but
notice something was a little off. Finally, though, I've figured it out.
With the tuning half a step down (if you want to play along, that is), the main pattern
through the song is this:
--3--3--3--3--3--3--3--0--3--3--3--3--2--2--2--2--
--3--3--3--3--3--3--3--0--1--1--1--1--3--3--3--3--
--0--0--0--0--0--0--0--0--2--2--2--2--2--2--2--2--
--0--0--0--0--2--2--2--0--2--2--2--2--0--0--0--0--
--2--2--2--2--2--2--2--0--0--0--0--0--------------
--3--3--3--3--0--0--0--0--------------------------
Just G, Em with the two top strings on 3, a quick strum of all the strings open, then an
Am/G (I think) followed by D.
The verses see a change in the first chord of this sequence for every line. The first
sequence you play starts with a G, but the next starts with Bm. The one after that starts
with a B and the one after that a Bm again.
Enough blabbing - here it is:
Chords used:
G: 320033
Em: 022033
Am/G: x02213
D: xx0232

After the key change:

Cm: x35543

My Dad's an actor, he got the broadway blues
He sleeps outside the paper shop and buys his good reviews
But if it is a bad one, it goes back on the shelf
He says, "I don't act for anyone, I do it for myself"
But he means, "Validate me, pretty please"
"Validate me, pretty please"
When I was young, I yearned for a girl to hold my hand
And when jokes and poems didn't work, I thought I'd start a band
So far all my girlfriends have been big fans of mine
So remember, this is not a song, it is a chat up line
(It's at this point there's a key change, because that's just what Jamie's all about :P)
