J.J.Cale nació en Oklahoma (EE. UU.) en 1938. Empezó a ser conocido al inicio de los 70's gracias al album "Naturally". Este LP contenía algunos de sus clásicos, como "Call Me The Breeze", "After Midnight" o "Crazy Mama"; su estilo era una extraña, innovadora y personalísima mezcla de blues, country y rock and roll.
Cale se caracteriza por una voz suave y sugerente, y una manera de tocar la guitarra que ha influenciado claramente a otros grandes guitarristas como Mark Knopfler o Eric Clapton.
