Biografía:
Codeine fue una banda americana de slowcore/sadcore formada en 1989 por Stephen Immerwahr (voz y bajo), Chris Brokaw (batería), y John Engle (guitarra).
Codeine fueron unos de los pioneros del slowcore/sadcore pero contaban con una actitud más experimental que otras bandas del género como Low, Idaho y Red House Painters.
El sonido original de la banda marcado por lentos tempos, la voz nasal de Immerwahr y el sonido de la telecaster de Engle no evolucionó mucho durante su carrera.
