Charles Mingus (Nogales, Arizona, Estados Unidos; 22 de abril de 1922 – Cuernavaca, Morelos, México; 5 de enero de 1979), fue un bajista de jazz estadounidense, compositor, director de orquesta, y un ocasional pianista. También fue conocido como un activista en contra de la injusticia racial.
Nació el 22 de abril de 1922 en Nogales, Arizona, sin embargo se crió en el área de Watts, en Los Angeles, California. Su familia tenía antecedentes suecos y afroamericanos por parte de sus abuelos paternos
