Nació el 4 de julio de 1985 en Nueva York. Inició su carrera en el 2005 con su álbum debut "East Side Story", que fue lanzado hasta agosto del 2007.
Sus influencias son el jazz y sonidos clásicos a los que estuvo expuesta durante su infancia.
Es hija de dos cantantes uno italiano y el otro afroamericano.

Didn't really like this song at first but it has grown on me!
That bridge just gives me goosebumps (the good kind!)
To be honest this song sounds very unconventional and unique,
and I think it is better if only POWER CHORDS are played when you play alone.
To my ear, when the whole chord is played it doesn't sound 100% right
Then again maybe I'm just a noob and can't figure it out,
There is the thumping bass and many backing layers and tracks of Emily's voice
to fill out the song, which I can't really note down in chords.
Either way, this is how I play it.
