Camper Van Beethoven es una banda de rock alternativo formada en 1983 en Redlands, California, aunque la banda enseguida se trasladaría a Santa Cruz, California. La música de Camper Van Beethoven mezcla pop, ska, punk rock, folk, country, y acid rock haciendo una ecléctica, pegajosa y a veces misteriosa combinación.
El grupo se separaría en 1990 y el vocalista David Lowery forma Cracker con el guitarrista Johnny Hickman. Se volvieron a reunir oficialmente en 2004 para grabar New Roman Times, su primer álbum oficial en 15 años.
