Type O Negative era una banda de Brooklyn, Nueva York. Son conocidos como unos de los primeros grupos en alcanzar el éxito en el estilo Gothic/Doom Metal, compuesto por guitarras distorsionadas, órganos frecuentes y el uso del teclado, y voces de Peter Steele. Además, la banda muestra una variedad de influencias no góticas.
