Tiffany creció en Norwalk con sus padres James Robert Darwish (con parte de ancestros libaneses/sirios) y Janie Wilson (de ancestros mayoritariamente irlandeses y alguna lejana ascendencia Cherokee). Los padres de Tiffany se divorciaron cuando ella tenía muy corta edad. Cuando Tiffany tenía 4 años de edad, aprendió la letra de la canción Delta Dawn, y empezó a cantarla frecuentemente. En 1977, la madre de Tiffany se casó con Dan Williams, y en 1979, nació la media hermana de Tiffany, Falicia Williams.
