The Fiery Furnaces son una banda de indie rock formada en Brooklyn, New York, en 2000. La integran los hermanos Matthew y Eleanor Friedberger, que crecieron en Oak Park, Illinois, cerca de Chicago. Firmaron con Rough Trade (sello discográfico) en 2002, grabando su álbum de debut Gallowsbird's Bark el mismo año. Este álbum recibio buenas criticas gracias a sus letras originales e inteligentes.
