Todo comienza con una simple llamada telefónica, Hall, un solista con dos álbumes lanzados anteriormente llama a Bush, una cantante de clubs, para poder escribir en conjunto. Al poco tiempo se dan cuenta que no se quieren quedar sólo con eso, quieren algo en grande, unas semanas despues de esto ya estaban frente a miles de fanáticos y firmando para la disquera Mercury Records.
En octubre de 2004 lanzan su primer disco "Twice the speed of life", que con varios éxitos radiales los hace ser nominados para el Grammy a mejor nuevo artista.
