Em All the bedroom lights go out D As the neighbourhood gets quiet AmEm Ev'rything in heaven and earth is almost right
Em But there's a wife who's wond'ring D Where her husband could be tonight Am And when the phone rang almost once Em She took a dreadful fright
Em Little things just seem to undermine D Her confidence in him AmEm He was late this time last week
Em Who can she turn to D When the chance of coincidence is slim AmB+ B9B `Cause the baby isn't old enough to speak

Em All the movies and the papers D Feature the murders of lonely women Am If he isn't in by ten Em She'll call up her best friend
Em Why doesn't he come home D Why does her friend's phone keep on ringing AmB+ B9B Maybe she should just pretend
