"The Tomcats", la banda formada por Brian Setzer y su hermano, fue el germen de los futuros "Stray Cats", que nacerían en 1979 en Nueva York al abandonar el hermano de Setzer la formación y unirse Lee Rocker y Slim Jim Phantom.
Pero los inicios serían difíciles, y tendrían que irse a Inglaterra para conseguir triunfar de la mano de Brian Setzer y su Gretsch G6120
