This is from "The Houston Kid." It is a brilliant song from a brilliant record that Rodney wrote about his childhood and the childhoods of his best friends growing up. It is amazing.
Song Chords: DF#m Turning tricks on sunset, twenty bucks a pop BmG Some out of town old business man or an undercover cop DBm I'm living with a virus flowing way down in my veins GD Oh I wish it would rain
DF#m I know you've heard my story or seen me on the street BmG Just another cracker gigolo dressed up like trick or treat DBm Now you may want to judge me or treat me with disdain GD Oh I wish it would rain
G Memphis, Texas; Houston, Tennesee D Man I'm just so turned around I don't know where I want to be G This California desert is driving me insane DG Oh I wish it would rain
DF#m So I've squandered my resistance, taking any kind of drug BmG I'd smoke or shoot or eat it, I'd drink it from a jug DBm I offer no excuses for your sympathies to gain GD Oh I wish it would rain
G Everybody knows me as the kid D I've made it seven years still I don't know how I did G I come from a long line of live and love in vain DG Oh I wish it would rain
DF#m So I've prayed to mother Mary, I've even seen a priest BmG When the angels come to get me, I know I'll be released D I'll leave this mean old desert bound for Memphis on that train GD Oh I wish it would rain (X2)
