Richard Clare Danko (29 Dic 1942 - 10 Dic 1999)
En 1960, con 17 años se unió al cantante Rockabilly Ronnie Hawkins y su grupo "The Hawks", donde conoció a sus fúturos compañeros de camino, Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel, y Robbie Robertson.
El grupo se separó de Ronnie, y tras diversas aventuras, Rick y sus compañeros acabaron tocando con Bob Dylan como "The Band". Más tarde se constituyeron como grupo con entidad propia, haciendo un tipo de música conocida como "americana"
