Carpet of the Sun / Michael Dunford - Betty Thatcher ----------------------------------------------------
Performed by Renaissance on Ashes are Burning (1973)
Note that the seperation between bars (noted by "/", don't misunderstand me, and play B / E as B chord on E bass...) is not very accurate. On the switches between the B and the E there are 3/4 bar of B and then 5/4 of E. Have fun - It's a great song!
intro B / E / B / E B / E / B / E B / E / B / E
1st verse: BE Come along with me BE Down into the world of seeing BE Come and you'll be free BE Take the time to find the feeling DA See everything on it's own BmG And you'll find you know the way DA And you'll know the things you're shown BmGB / E / B / E Owe everything to the day
Chorus: BE See the carpet of the sun BE The green grass soft and sweet BE Sands upon the shores of time BE Of ocean mountain deep GEB Part of the world that you live in GEB / E / B / E You are the part that you're giving
2nd Verse: (Same chords) Come into the day Feel the sunshine warmth around you Sounds from far away Music of the love that found you The seed that you plant today Tomorrow will be a tree And living goes on this way It's all part of you and me
Chorus: (Repeat the same chords, and then:) A / D / E / E / B / B D (long - pause)
Chorus: (Repeat the same chords, and then:) BEB / E See the carpet of the sun BEB / E See the carpet of the sun BEB / E See the carpet of the sun BEG / G / E / E / B (end) See the carpet of the sun
On the lyric sheet that comes with the record, there is also this verse, which is not sung, but you may try it as well:
Come along and try Looking into ways of giving Maybe we will fly Find a dream that we will live in We'll look into the eyes of time Past ages have turned to dust And born somewhere on the line The loving that grows with us
