Biografía:
Mavis Staples, cantante de gospel y soul nacida en 1940 en Chicago. La mayor parte de su carrera la ha pasado como miembro del grupo The Staple Singers.
Nació en Chicago durante el año 1940. Desde 1951 formó parte de The Staple Singers junto a Roebuck "Pops" Staples, Pervis Staples, Yvonne Staples y Cleotha Staples. En el año 1969 comenzó su carrera en solitario en el sello subsidiario de Stax, Volt, grabó su primer álbum homónimo. En 1979 trabajó junto a Curtis Mayfield
