Living Colour comenzó como un trío compuesto por Vernon Reid (guitarra), Muzz Skillings (bajo) y Will Calhoun (batería). Corey Glover (voz) fue integrado a la banda después de que Vernon Reid lo escucho cantar el "Feliz Cumpleaños" en la casa de un amigo.
