John Winston Lennon Stanley (Liverpool, Reino Unido, 9 de octubre de 1940 - † Nueva York, Estados Unidos, 8 de diciembre de 1980) fue un músico y compositor británico. Integrante y fundador del grupo The Beatles, donde tocaba la guitarra, cantaba y componía gran parte del material junto a su compañero Paul McCartney. Lennon ha compuesto algunas de las melodías más conocidas del siglo XX.
Nacido durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, su padre era marino, Alfred Lennon, y su madre era Julia Stanley.
