John Mellencamp, también conocido como John Cougar o John Cougar Mellencamp, (nacido el 7 Octubre de 1951) es un autor e interprete de Rock Americano. Empezó llamándose John Cougar, nombre que cambió posteriormente a Cougar Mellencamp para acabar definitivamente con sólo Mellencamp.
John Mellencamp comenzó su carrera a finales de los 70 (de 1976 es su primer disco, que resultó un fracaso comercial); su popularidad se fue acrecentando aprovechando el tirón de la música de Bruce Springsteen
