John Davies Cale (9 de marzo de 1942) es un músico galés, compositor, multiinstrumentista y productor. Es muy conocido por haber integrado la mítica banda neoyorquina Velvet Underground en la segunda mitad de la década del '60 donde sentó las bases de lo que hoy se conoce como rock alternativo. Durante los pocos años en que Cale integró la banda aportó un toque avant- garde gracias a sus estudios sobre composición y su formación académica, como así también ejecutó la viola, el piano y el bajo.
