Biografía:
James Carr, cantante de soul nacido en Memphis el 13 de junio de 1942.
Nacido de una familia de religión baptista procedente de Misisipi, comenzó cantando gospel en su ciudad natal, Memphis. A mediados de los '60 comenzó a grabar temas en la discográfica local Goldmax.
Uno de sus primeros temas que consiguieron entrar en las listas de éxitos de una forma moderada fue "You've Got My Mind Messed Up" (1966), a la que siguió el mayor hit de su carrera "Dark End Of The Street".
