Biografía:
Jacques Offenbach (Colonia (Alemania), 20 de junio de 1819 – París, 5 de octubre de 1880). Compositor y violoncellista alemán, nacionalizado francés, creador de la opereta moderna y de la comedia musical. Fue uno de los compositores más influyentes de la música popular europea del siglo XIX.
Nació en Deutz, hoy un barrio de la ciudad de Colonia, con el nombre de Jakob. Sus padres fueron el encuadernador, profesor de música y compositor Isaac Juda Eberest y Marianne Rindskopf
