LOVE OF THE COMMON PEOPLE (Hurley & Wilkins) -------------------------------------------- [Indigo Girls' version is in B, and they play it in A with a capo on the second fret. It also sounds okay to play it in G (capo 4).] [I'm not sure about the chords in the intro; I'm thinking it might be: x0222x(A) x02225(A) x02220(A) xx0454(E) - xx0232 (D) - x02220 (A)]
AAAE - D - A - A [intro]
AA Living on free food tickets AA There's water in the milk from a hole in the roof GG Where the rain came through DE What can you do? AA You've got tears from your little sister AA Crying 'cause she doesn't have a dress without a patch GG For the party to go DE But you know she's gonna get by
AD Living in the love of the common people AE Smiles from the heart of a family man AD Daddy's gonna buy you a dream to cling to AE Mama's gonna love you just as much as she can AAAE - D - A - A And she can [same chords as intro]
It's a good thing you don't have bus fare It would fall through the hole in your pocket And you'd lose it the snow on the ground You better walk to town and find a job And you try to keep your hands warm But the hole in your shoe lets the snow come through And it chills you to the bone You better go home, where it's warm
Living in the love of the common people Smiles from the heart of a family man Daddy's gonna buy you a dream to cling to Mama's gonna love you just as much as she can And she can
Living on a dream ain't easy (no) But the closer the knit, the tighter the fit And the chills stay away We like to keep them in stride with family pride Faith is your foundation A whole lot of love and a warm conversation But don't forget to pray It's keeping us strong where we belong
Living in the love of the common people Smiles from the heart of a family man Daddy's gonna buy you a dream to cling to Mama's gonna love you just as much as she can
