EAB
ABEA The last time I saw her she was wavin' me goodbye ABE She swore no other boy would take my place ABEA I took a Mississippi Queen through New Orleans and down the Bayou AAAAB I hoped to find my destiny, my fortune and my face
Chorus:
EAB Please tell her that I said hello EAB Explain to her I didn't wanna go EF# But the message from her daddy said AB He's gonna see me dead EBEA And if I can get out now, she'll never know BE She'll never know, never know
EABE
ABEA I stayed around, I played around with all those Southern belles AABE But they took away my money and my pride ABEA I had no place to go and the rest you know darn well AAAAB Livin' out the gutter ain't so easy to describe ABEA But I still had my guitar, so I joined a dirty band ABE Workin' in a smoky downtown bar ABEA When comes along this big wheel with a contract in his hand AAAAA Said, 'put your mark along here boy AAAB I'm gonna make you a Rock 'n' Roll star'
Chorus:
EAB Please tell her that I said hello EAB Explain to her I didn't wanna to go EF# But the message from her daddy said AB He's gonna see me dead EBEA And if I can get out now, she'll never know BEABE Never know, never know
EABE EABE
EAB Well the years have come and gone EA And I was passing through to find AABE That my home town was still the same to see EABEA Well, the memory I had of her had crumbled from my mind AAAAAB I really didn't think she'd still be waiting here for me
Chorus:
EAB Please tell her that I said hello EAB Explain to her I didn't wanna to go EF# But the message from her daddy said AB He's gonna see me dead EBEA And if I can get out now, she'll never know BEAB Never know, never know

EBEA And if I can get out now, she'll never know BE Never know, never know
E A B....never know, never know,
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
This and my other post "Cold Lady" are one of the few Humble Pie transcriptions that can be found on the web, as it seems. (By the way: These are the only ones, at least I found no others. If you find any others please let me know!)
