Field Report is an American folk band formed in 2011 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The band is led by singer/songwriter Christopher Porterfield (a form member of the Justin Vernon-led band DeYarmond Edison.
Field Report, an anagram of Porterfield's surname, was culled together in the studio while recording their 2012 self-titled debut. They suddenly found themselves championed by their former idols: offered support tours by Counting Crows and Aimee Mann, lauded by the likes of Mark Eitzel and Richard Thompson, and covered by Blind Boys Of Alabama.

DBmDBmEmAEmAD
VERSE: D In the year of the Get You Alone Bm I got you alone D And I showed you that I’d been drinking Bm In a handful of words Em The lecture landed all kinds of places A Places with vistas of buckthorn and tamarack. Em Can you measure remorse in invasive species? A Will they hang their heads and swear not to grow back?
CHORUS: GD All my love BmAF What have we become? GD Crippled by joy BmAD (use Dsus4 and Dsus2 And pursuit thereof also for variation)
VERSE: D In the year of the Get You Alone Bm I got you on a boat D And I did all my drinking at home, Bm before we got to the shore Em Don’t look down now, A But this water has a sinister motive Em It's carving out my confidence A And flooding my crumbling home
CHORUS: GD All my love BmAF What have we become? GD Crippled by joy BmAGDBmDGEm7 And pursuit thereof
VERSE: Bm Somebody's sleeping with director’s daughters D And taking drugs I’ve never tried Bm I drink at home most days now D And sometimes sleep with my wife Bm And I lost my job in a kitchen D Guess I belong in this city’s withered arms Bm Cradled in her unset broken ulna, D Spangled by dishwater tears
Like silver bracelet charms Em7 I don’t love her
Like I love you D I’ve been saving up my money, A Gonna buy us a new car Em7 This city
She taught me a thing or two, D To take a ride from anyone
Going far, far, far away from
CHORUS/OUTRO: GD All my love BmAF What have we become? GD Crippled by joy BmF#mGD And pursuit thereof
